When Charlie first contacted me to enquire about photographing his wedding, I took one look at this pair of venues and just couldn't wait for the big day to arrive. Charlie, Clare and I go way back - it's always a pleasure to work for someone I know, least of all someone I'd been pestering to propose for the best part of five years, hey Charlie?! I was sure it would be worth the wait...
I arrived to capture Clare's bridal prep at Lancaster House Hotel where Rebecca Carle was in full swing with hair and make-up. Clare's bridesmaids - Fiona, Jessica and Katherine - wore dusky blue-grey dresses with a scattering of sparkles which matched Clare's Mori Lee gown perfectly. Clare's Aunt Stephanie had created coordinating bouquets and buttonholes in shades of yellow. The grey and lemon colour scheme was understated and perfectly pretty.
At the Ashton Memorial, guests were welcomed with music from the Dotted Crotchets, a talented string quartet. After the ceremony, we took a stroll around Williamson Park and the Edwardian Butterfly House and even managed to lure one of the butterflies onto Clare's bouquet. The memorial provided the perfect backdrop for some dramatic photographs as the sun started to peep from behind the clouds.
Beetle Bliss transported our bride and groom to their second venue, Forrest Hills - an unusual, rather adorable and secluded venue overlooking a lake and golf course. Eileen and the team looked after us so well - the atmosphere was so calm and relaxed for the rest of the day and into the evening when the party got started...
