Wowsers, there I was on Thursday evening, sat in front of the iMac watching The Wedding Industry Awards' twitter feed like a hawk. My baby monitor was on - the reason I wasn't there in person - and I was reading all about the wonderful time my industry pals were having at Cafe de Paris in London. Drinking cocktails, watching incredible acrobatic performances...

It was taking rather a long time to get through all of the awards and I was getting a little sleepy. "I'll just go and wash up", I thought and skulked off to the kitchen. 15 minutes later I picked up my phone and it was going bonkers - I'd only been awarded 'Highly Commended' in the Best Website category.

My website was selected from 40 shortlisted websites by Guides for Brides. To say I wasn't expecting this award would be a huge understatement. I was rather flabbergasted. As were my wonderful website designers - Fi and Becs Design & Marketing. Kudos indeed ladies. Thank you for building such a gorgeous website to showcase my work.

I'm so super duper chuffed - my website has been shortlisted for a national award!

Having got through to the regional finals for 'Best Wedding Photographer', it's fantastic to find out that my website has made me a national finalist too...

A huge thank you to the lovely girls at Fi and Becs Design & Marketing who were an absolute dream to work with to launch the new website this time last year. Has it really been a whole year?

The winner of the award will be announced at The Wedding Industry Awards National Final at Cafe de Paris in London on 14th January 2016. Fingers crossed...

So, last night I attended The Wedding Industry Awards at Heaton House Farm. I'd been shortlisted as a regional finalist on the basis of feedback from my couples and tonight I got to read through all of their comments...

I don't quite know where to start or what to say except a HUGE thank you to all of you. It means the world to me that you love what I do and took the time to vote. I was so flattered to be shortlisted alongside such incredible talent - the absolute best of the industry in the region.

Here are some of the amazing comments I got to read through today:

“Kate has been fabulous from start to finish, she has been so accommodating and is such a lovely person. The pictures she captured are out of this world, we couldn't be happier with them. She is fantastic at her job!”

“Our photos capture the day perfectly, it was an beautiful and emotional day and each photo tells its own story; from our nerves, to the jubilation of being married, through the emotionally charged speeches, and the joy of having our friends and family with us. We are delighted and will treasure them forever. We couldn't recommend Kate more, she captured everything we wanted but without being intrusive. Our best man even said he wished he'd had Kate for his wedding!”

“Kate was a great photographer. Kate’s style of natural, romantic photography was exactly what we were looking for and we weren’t disappointed! She didn’t spend hours making us stand or pose for photos which is what we’d been warned of by friends, so it never felt like we were missing out on our wedding.”

“Kate was fantastic before and throughout, giving us honest and open guidance on what photographs were appropriate for formal photos and still leaving time for the informal shots of guests and us enjoying everything. On the day she was flexible, visible when needed, discrete when not, and fully engaged and enjoying the day herself.”

“Kate worked so incredibly hard on the day, going above and beyond my expectations. I remember going for a walk with my husband, little did I know Kate had captured the special moment - I don't even remember her being there! I loved the fact that when we arrived home from our honeymoon feeling a little low, there were the photos on the doormat!”

“Kate was a pleasure to have at our wedding. She was efficient and fun and we hardly knew she was there - yet she took hundreds of fabulous shots. She sent the edited pictures very quickly and when I wanted some changes - e.g. the black and white shots in colour - she sent them straight away. We are delighted with the pictures and we'd thoroughly recommend Kate.”

“Kate was absolutely fantastic. Very professional in her prep. On the day she was fantastic. Totally unobtrusive during the parts that were reportage style and really organised during the formal photos. Needless to say the pictures we received (with bubbly and one framed, fantastic picture on arrival home from honeymoon) were incredible to the extent that both venues and the car company asked to use them in their own literature. So glad we chose Kate.”

“Kate was a great photographer who brought elegance and class into her photos. She used the features and people of the venue excellently and the final product is truly amazing. We highly recommend Kate as a photographer.”

“Kate's style is so modern: cue the documentary-style pics, capturing the best emotions in the most fantastic light. I loved how easy she made the process, I felt in complete safe hands - the testimonials on her blog were real!!”

Congratulations to all of the deserving winners - especially Emma and Jonny at LOVE Bridal Boutique who won 'Bridal Retailer of the Year' for the 3rd year running (they are just the loveliest, most hardworking couple), Sarah and co. at Heaton House Events Team, Andy Murphy DJ, Sian at The Flower Lounge and Debbie at Better Together Weddings who won for the 2nd year running despite having a baby 11 months ago - wowsers. Hope the heads weren't too sore this morning...! Until next year...
